Fiscal Sponsor
A fiscal sponsor is a special nonprofit organization that shares its 501(c)(3) status with unincorporated nonprofit projects. This allows these projects to apply for grants through the fiscal sponsor, even if they are not qualified to do so independently. As a result, these projects can receive grants from various sources, including government, foundations, and individuals. The fiscal sponsor provides administrative services to these charitable grant projects, including financial management and fiduciary oversight, to ensure that the project is carried out as intended.

The service and expertise provided by Ms. Ross were nothing short of exceptional. She successfully assisted us with a very short deadline to capture the maximum award available for the grant. The grant submittal was well-researched, demonstrated a strong understanding of both our goals and the grant requirements and helped build a foundation for educating our stakeholders on the multiple facets and objectives of the grant program. Ms. Ross stands out as a reputable and reliable partner for organizations seeking assistance with grant writing. Wildfire is a statewide risk to homes and communities. As residents of Portola Hills, we are taking action to reduce our risk and protect our homes, families, and ability to maintain insurance coverage. We created a "Firewise" committee of our HOA and began educating our neighbors and working with OCFA to identify and prioritize risk reduction projects. We also began looking for grants to fund the required risk reduction work and soon found we we needed a fiscal sponsor as our HOA is a 501(c)4 rather than a 501(c)3. That's when we met Bethany Ross of California Sustainability Group. She wrote our grant application and, in addition to serving as fiscal sponsor, agreed to manage the entire grant. We received the requested $2.9M from CALFIRE and Bethany and team have already completed the CEQA process and obtained the cash advance necessary to begin work. She keeps us informed and involved as the project progresses and we are more than satisfied.
